Ticket Donation Program

The PEI Rocket are extremely pleased to be involved in a program designed to allow individuals and organizations who have unused tickets for any Rocket game to have them donated to one of three chosen charities for this program. The three selected charities are: Children's Wish Foundation of PEI, Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI, and the Boys and Girls Club of Charlottetown.

At the present time, the Rocket offer ticket redemption nights, however, the ticket donation program takes things one step further for fans who would like to provide their unused tickets to a worthy cause.

Rocket VP, Trent Birt, explained that, "drop boxes are set up in the Rocket office and the Charlottetown Civic Centre to drop any unused tickets off for the charities. Every two weeks, the Rocket distributes the tickets to the charities. The tickets can be provided anonymously, or they can be provided 'with compliments'. The tickets are only eligible for regular season games for the remainder of the season".

The three charitable organizations were chosen by the Rocket organization to ensure that the tickets would be in support of children's based charities on PEI and to allow children to experience the excitement of Major Junior Hockey.

"We are very honored that the Rocket have chosen the Children's Wish Foundation to be one of their charities of choice for their new ticket donation program", says Beth Corney Gauthier, Chapter Director for Prince Edward Island. "The donated tickets will be given to wish children who have been diagnosed with a high risk life threatening illness. For these wish children to experience a fun and exciting evening watching the Rocket is a wonderful escape from the reality of illness which is their daily lives. It is a memory making time for the whole family".

Krista O'Brien, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of Charlottetown added, "we are very grateful to the PEI Rocket and to the Islanders who support the team for their generous donation of hockey tickets. Without support such as this, many of our young members would not be able to attend these games. It is wonderful to see community spirit alive and well in P.E.I."

Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director, Yvonne Cartner, added, "we ask our volunteer Mentors to give time to spend with a child and we also encourage our volunteers to find activities to share with the child that do not cost money. Some of the parents we work with do not have any extra money to buy tickets for their children to attend events in the community. With the Rocket Ticket program, the children matched to a volunteer will have the opportunity to attend a live hockey game with their Mentor. This opportunity will put a smile on the faces of a lot of Island children".

"The PEI Rocket are very pleased to support community based activities such as this program", said Rocket President, Serge Savard, Jr. "We are part of the community and we look forward to a very successful 2011-2012 season."
