Another hockey season has come and gone for the PEI Rocket and everyone in the organization would like to thank you for your generous support! Hockey teams at all levels, especially at the Major Junior level, depend our FANS and we very much appreciate the support you have given us!
We all know you are supporting our team in return for the entertainment we can provide. The obvious reason we run this hockey club is to win hockey games while developing our players for the next level of their careers. Aside from this though, I want to share with you, some of the ways in which our team benefits our community (yours and ours) and our players. Having said this, I reiterate we could not do these things without your generous support. Some but not all of these things include:
• This year, every one of our players were enrolled in an education program that we paid for
• We fulfilled over 100 requests for charitable donations
• Over 50 player appearances throughout all of PEI (some with as many as the entire team and others with 3 or 4 guys)
• Over 2000 free tickets to schools, minor hockey programs, charities and others
• Chances every night for minor hockey players to skate on the same ice as our players
Although we didn’t make the playoffs this year, a lot of good things happened that are going to bode well for our future. To name a few, we had our youngest team ever with 12 rookies in our line-up, our captain had a career year, at least one of our players is expected to be drafted in this year’s NHL draft, we had a player in the Subway series for NHL prospects, 3 of our players played in the Under 17 World Championship and our rookie coach was named assistant coach of the Under 18 World Championship.
In closing, once again, myself, the Savard family, Coach Dwyer and the rest of the PEI Rocket organization extend our thanks and appreciation for your generous support! We all hope to have you back on board next year!
Sincerely,
Trent Birt,
VP of Operations
PEI Rocket Hockey Club
